"Amazing care from start to finish - A&E and Ward..."

About: Arrowe Park Hospital

I took my father to A&E late on a Thursday night. The triage nurse we saw was very caring and reassuring and made us all feel comfortable in what was a very stressful time. After a few basic heart/blood tests, we were moved to the assessment area, where a doctor and a stroke nurse came to talk to us. The triage nurse came back to check on my dad later that night, which was very sweet. Within two hours of admittance, my dad had been given a CT scan, and was admitted to ward 23 while we awaited further diagnosis. He was made to feel very comfortable on the ward, and was provided with pyjamas. The ward staff were very helpful, giving us the contact number and all the information they could. The next day my dad was seen on ward rounds by a physiotherapist and the consultant, and was taken for a further MRI and x ray. He was offered food and drinks throughout the day, and all staff were reassuring. He was discharged on Friday evening with a referral to a neurology department in Walton. Every member of staff we came into contact with was incredible - from the A&E nurse, to the doctors and nurses on ward 23, to the porters who took my dad to and from scans. The NHS and Arrowe Park do an incredible job with limited resources, and we will forever be grateful to each and every staff member we interacted with in those 24 hours - particular mention and thanks to the A&E nurse, nurse on Ward 23 and the consultant. Thank you for everything you do. This was unfortunately not my first experience of a family member being admitted to A&E, or to ward 23, and I have noticed consistently good care throughout each experience.
