"Neurosurgery"

About: Leeds General Infirmary

I write to show my appreciation of our wonderful NHS and the unbelievable team of neurosurgeons at the LGI. It literally took a week from my emergency visit to A&E in Bradford where a CT scan revealed a brain tumour and for the surgeon and their brilliant team to perform an emergency operation. I was extremely worried and scared about this operation and having been very fortunate I have never spent any time in a hospital as an inpatient. I was very apprehensive about what was going to happen to me. Very early on Monday morning I was admitted into hospital. I immediately felt in safe hands, the surgeon, their neurosurgical team and the anaesthetist gave me such confidence, they fully explained the operation the risks, answered all my questions and gave me their reassurance that they will do their best for me. This put me at ease and helped me to be calm and composed. I had a Right Occipital Craniotomy and de-bulking of Cerebral Tumour (removal of a tumour). Sounds complicated but as the surgeon said “this is my day job” Although I am not “out of the woods yet” but this operation was a great success for me. I can’t express in words the dedication, professionalism, skills demonstrated by the surgical team, doctors, nurses and hospital staff during my stay. I feel overwhelmed and humbled to have experienced at first hand the care and attention I received before, during and after my operation. I am so lucky to have been under the care of the surgeon and their team of staff and I can’t speak highly enough of the care I received. I am recovering very well from the operation and would like to thank you very much, you have done an amazing job, you are a incredible person and an invaluable asset to the NHS and LGI. Again many thanks for every thing you and your team have done, not only for me but also for the large number of patients you see every week. May God Bless you all! Krystyna L

Dear Krystyna,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Your post is wonderful to read and I am extremely pleased that I am able to pass such positive and uplifting words to our Neurology department whom I know will be very happy that they were able to deliver care that met your expectations.

I am very pleased to know that you are recovering well and hope that you continue to do so.

With kind regards
