I have a carer to help me shower twice a week. I’ve been using a carer for three years, maybe a bit longer and prefer to have a female carer – I feel more comfortable.

It would also be our intention to provide a female carer to a female client for any support of the nature you have described. As you mentioned the presence of a female carer makes you fell more comfortable and I believe also provides you with increased privacy and dignity.

If for any reason you are allocated a male carer I would ask that you contact your local Elite Care office immediately and request a change of carer.

We will use male carers with female clients for non personal support such as meal preparation and medication but for all personal care, washing and dressing etc. it is always our intention to provide a female carer to a female client.
