"The carers are very helpful"

About: Elite Care (Scotland) Ltd

(as a service user),

I have been using care services from Elite care for just two months now following an assessment from the hospital. I have help with showering and dressing each morning and have nothing to complain about, the carers are very helpful. I think the service was arranged by the local council and was organized very quickly so that I had help at home as soon as I was discharged.

The only small point I wanted to query was whether the carers should make sure I have my security medallion on before they leave. I myself can put in on and take it off but I thought it said in the paperwork that the carers would make sure I was wearing it before they left. There may be other people who use this service who depend on the carers making sure they are wearing the medallion but if this is being overlooked then it could cause a problem.

Thank you for sharing your experience of Elite Care with Care Opinion and the wider community and it is pleasing to see that overall the service is meeting your current needs.

You have raised a very relevant and potentially serious concern around your community alarm pendant. It is important that our carers do check the client is wearing their pendant before the carer leaves the house. I think you will correct in identifying that this task will be in your care plan and as you have rightly pointed out not everyone will remember to put their pendant on at the start of the day and require carers to remind them and if necessary to assist them.

I will be sending out a general reminder to all branches around the importance of ensuring clients with community alarm pendants are wearing them.

In your own personal situation I would advise that if you have any concerns, however small they may seem you contact your local Elite Care branch to discuss your concerns with your coordinator or the branch manager, the contact numbers are as follows;

Fife - 01334 476262

Perth/Crieff - 01764 656300

Dundee - 01382 223559

Alternately feel free to contact me directly on 01334 472834 or 07713 374709
