About: Eastbourne District General Hospital

I am a 49 year old male,I have, over the last few years been a producer of Kidney stones, but thankfully have avoided surgery up to yesterday.I had my yearly check up in Feb 2015 in out patients, the consultant as usual was fantastic as were the nurses. The consultant recommended a CT scan, almost immediately I started having the usual pain and so I new I had some stones again.I had my CT scan and waited and waited,no news, baring in mind I was in considerable pain, kept on ringing the hospital,"oh,your scan has been lost".after another period of time I received a letter to go for a pre-operative assessment, which I did,two days after this I was called in again for another blood test, and was told I would be on the waiting list,I then received a phone call from my consultant could I go and see them tomorrow,no problem.to their credit the consultant has always been fantastic and treated me brilliantly, they were unhappy with the loss of the CT scan and time it was taking for treatment and said they would arrange it that I could be moved up lists as I was suffering, for this I was grateful. My 1st appointment came through,May 26th phone call cancelling,my operation.2nd appointment 4th June phone call cancelling my operation, given new date 16th June, once again all this was going on in excruciating pain.I did not even pack my overnight bag until 7.30pm on the 15th for fear of a cancelation, however the 16th arrived and day of my Uteroscopy came, the care I received from everyone, consultant, all the theatre staff nurses, basically everyone was 2nd to none, before, during and after my operation, all could not of been kinder, even the fact that I had been placed 5th on the list did not phase anyone,(I am diabetic)they just moved me to the top of list without fuss.theNHS should be rightly proud of the staff at EDGH,they are the best and deserve all the praise for making a worrying and painful time bearable.
