"Disabled parking"

About: Cavendish Hospital

I regularly attend this hospital for blood tests at various times throughout the date and there will usually be at least 3 cars parked in the disabled spaces which do not have disabled badges. The other day i was parked in a disabled space after attending my appointment and 2 of the NHS staff had somebody waiting to collect them parked in the disabled space. i understand that they were only there for a short while but disabled people or careers may have physically needed these spaces.

Please accept our sincere apologies Annabelle for your recent experience on your visit to Cavendish Hospital. As Integrated Facilities Services we are currently looking at options around improving and monitoring parking within our sites in order to ensure all of our patients and visitors to DCHS sites are not affected by inappropriate or unsafe parking which could impact on their visit and access to the building. In the meantime however, I will ensure that a clear communication is sent around the hospital site to all of the staff there to remind them of the necessity to park responsibly. I will also ask our Supervisors to regularly monitor the disabled parking spaces to ensure that they are also being accessed and used appropriately. Kay Bradley, Locality Manager, Integrated Facilities Management Services, High Peak and Dales, Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust
