I rarely submit reviews. I realise it's a popular thing to be openly critical of any service which falls somewhere below a high standard, but there's no risk of that happening at Addenbrookes - certainly in my recent experience. Every single staff member at this hospital seems to have a spring in their step! You see it in the corridors, the waiting rooms and the wards. It's a strange thing but it is uplifting to witness and it induces in a patient a feeling of confidence in the work which they are carrying out. The ENT staff, from porter to nurse through to consultant, are alert, attentive, friendly, confident and capable. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is clean. Everything seems ordered. But it is the staff which really get you. They go out of their way to explain and to help, reassure and encourage. It is evidently the culture there, and it was as much a surprise to me to find as it was a pleasure to be on the receiving end of such unalloyed professionalism. Addenbrookes is plainly a model hospital (a hospital on which all others should be expected to model themselves). Its internationally gilded reputation is, in my experience, entirely justified. I cannot fault it in any way. Brilliant!
