I had jaw reconstructive surgery in June 2013 at Aberdeen royal infirmary in order to fix an underbite. The operation was a success and I was very impressed with staff at the hospital during my stay.
However, a year following I was due a post op check up with the surgeon and my orthodontist. Living in Shetland and at university in Stirling meant I would have to travel to Aberdeen for this. I never received an appointment and was told by my orthodontist in September 2014 I needed the check up URGENTLY.
Heard nothing until February. Received a letter saying I had an appointment for the following week at 9am. Living in Stirling meant the earliest I could get to Aberdeen was 9:30am without an overnight stay at the cost to myself. I explained this on the phone and was told it was then or never.
I cancelled and waited for a replacement appointment as promised. None came and I have been sent in circles on the phone trying to arrange a new appointment.
The check up is now a year overdue and I have concerns to do with my jaw health that needs addressing.
