"11 weeks and counting"

About: Essex County Hospital

My mother had a skin lesion biopsied 11 weeks ago. She was told to wait 3-4 weeks for results in the post. From 4 weeks she has phoned 1-2 times each week, each time being told a letter is in the post. 11 weeks later she has still not recieved a letter. Imagine the consequences if the lesion turns out to be malignant? People are being put at risk by this services incompetence.

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on Dermatology 13/06/2015 09:26:25”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
