"Appalling care for my father"

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

The majority of nursing staff do not listen to the patients or their families. They say they are going to do things then they don't. Very few staff members actually talk and take an interest on the patients. The lack of sympathetic and empathy is quite worrying. The only way you get thongs done is to keep pestering staff. The medical staff, fortunately, were excellent. In A &E, prior to admission, after being admitted by GP, the wait to be triaged was over an hour, which is appalling, then nearly an hour later had to ask for a doctor as my Dad was in a lot of pain, a doctor came straight away, who was very good, but why should it take so long when there are lots of staff standing around chatting and laughing. A 4 and a half hour wait to get a 90 year old poorly man onto a ward is disgraceful.
