"Ayrshire Hospice"

About: Ayrshire Hospice

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I had cancer of the spine. When I started coming to Ayrshire Hospice I was just on the road to recovery. I had been on bed rest for weeks on end and was told I wouldn't walk again.

I started coming to the hospice last March and have improved like nobody's business under the care of the physiotherapists. I went up my first staircase here. I was that determined to improve I passed all the exercises.

I'm fed well at the hospice, I've never had something I couldn't eat, it's perfect. I can't speak highly enough about the place. The nurses are perfect with me and everyone else.

I like that I get to have a bubble bath every 2nd Tuesday. It could be better if there was a music room.

I love it here, I'll burst out greetin if they take me away!

HI Gilfg5

Thank you for taking time to comment on our services through Care Opinion. We always welcome feedback.

I’m pleased to hear that your mobility is improving with the support from the hospice physiotherapy team, although I’m sure your determination has gone a long way to help. Climbing stairs again after weeks of bed rest is quite an achievement.

It’s also good to hear that our catering team have fed you well and that you have ample praise for the nursing team. I like your idea about developing a music room and I’ll discuss this with our team in due course.

I hope you continue to enjoy your bubble baths and thank you again for your comments; we truly want to make every day matter.

Update on the suggestion for developing a music room in Ayrshire Hospice. As part of the review of our current accommodation we are proposing the creation of an allocated space which will be suitable for listening to music. This is our longer term plan, however in the meantime if patients or family members wish to listen to music, please speak with hospice clinical staff who will make every effort to accommodate this request.

We are always grateful for any suggestions made

Thank you

Shona
