I went to Plymouth Nuffield Hospital today for a Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy not as a private patient but as an NHS patient. I was so scared of the Gastroscopy insertion as I was only being sedated (and not ‘knocked out’ as I was hoping). Well, I can only say that all my worrying was a complete waste of time. All the staff were brilliant, the Dr gave the impression of being uncaring but on reflection I believe it was professional honesty and the fact that the doctor obviously knew more about it all than I did. I do remember bits of the procedure but only the ‘nicer’ bits. One of the staff said afterwards that although they knew there was no reason for me to be worried I would not have believed this if they had told me that beforehand – which was true and this member of staff was such a lovely person. I left the hospital knowing I would be happy to be treated there again. I would like to pass on my thanks to all the staff with whom I had any contact today. A very grateful patient Glynis
