My son was referred to SLT Batley in October last year. He had an initial language assessment in January which resulted in a referral to a specialist speech therapist who came to see him in school in June, however the specialist was unable to carry out her assessment because the first therapist had not done a "complete" language assessment apparently and the initial therapist is not due to return to his school until October.
To say I'm utterly disappointed with Locala SLT would be a huge understatement. Each time I phone to speak to someone I'm told they are either off until next week or on holiday or away. I know that it's a long process as there is a big waiting list but surely when it's your turn to be assessed this is what should happen?
He's at the end of his reception year and will be going into year 1 being no further along in the SLT process and it is affecting his work and achievement at school.
