"Diabolical care standards"

About: Peterborough City Hospital

My mum ended up in B14 after a minor stroke, the majority of the care provided was terrible, despite having limited use of one hand she was given food that wasn't cut up suitably. The staff with a couple of exceptions were rude, arrogant and showed no sign of interest in the well being of patients in their care. Alarm bells went unattended for ages, my mum was left on a commode for far too long, just hopeless. The promised and requested physiotherapy never materialised. Shockingly poor care all round, God have mercy on anyone unfortunate enough to end up in B14. With such focus on overall care standards across the NHS it is amazing that this total lack of care and utter disregard for patients should still exist. It reflects very badly on the Hospital in general and in particular denigrates the efforts of those staff who do provide excellent care, as we found in the Womens Health ward. If anyone you care about is unfortunate enough to end up in B14 do them a favour and get them out of there!! The staff will provide all sorts of platitudes and reassurances none of which will be consumated. This ward needs urgent action to clear out the the staff who really should be emptying bins on the street, not providing care for the elderly.

I am so sorry you have had such a bad experience and I can assure you your comments have been fed back to the Matron for that area. Once again my apologies and please be assured we will be addressing this with the ward staff.
