This story has been posted by Healthwatch Tameside on behalf of a member of the public who asked not to have their name published. They said...

As a diabetic, they were asked whether they wanted to transfer care from Tameside Hospital to their GP. Transferred to Grosvenor Medical Practice.

Much better service than at the hospital:

• Don’t have as long to wait (could be 2 hour wait at hospital)

• Nurses at the GP surgery are very efficient – have an appointment on Monday to do bloods & the following Monday the nurse has all the results and follows up any issues.

• The GP surgery is more convenient

• Nurses get to know you & build up a relationship

All in all much better than Tameside Hospital for this person.
