"Great surgery, terrible everything else"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) (London)

I recently had a thyroid surgery at St Mary's where they had to use robots to get the goitre out. The do for was fantastic and the surgery was world-class, I couldn't be happier. Unfortunately I can say no where near the same for the rest of my experience at the hospital. I was left in recovery for hours after my surgery as there was not a single bed in the whole hospital, but the the surgery had been done. Then I was shunted from one recovery ward to another recovery ward in another building. Then I was left alone for hours, with all my belongings left on top of me on the bed, including my shoes (open wounds thank you very much) till 1 am. At which time I had a wally, and then they conveniently found me a bed in a ward. Since then, it has been almost four weeks, I never received a letter about a follow on appointment. I called them finally, and obviously no one had put a note on my file to make the appointment, even though the surgeon wanted to see me in two weeks. I not have an appointment in another two weeks, even though i have been extraordinarily ill. Unbelievably bad after care. Will try and never go back!!
