"Confidentiality"

About: Altrincham General Hospital

just sitting here waiting for my blood test and can hear everything the receptionist is asking the patients turning up for this out patient appointments They are confirming address date of birth gp, marital status religion and what clinic they are attending I think this breaches confidentiality - I certainly don't want a waiting room full of about 30 patients finding all this about me especially the clinic Lots of places have background music to mask these conversations It's a big area all plaster - nothing to absorb the sound

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience was not as positive as we would hope when you visited the Phlebotomy Department at Altrincham Hospital in June 2015. It is important to us that comments are heard and seen as an opportunity provided to the service to make changes and improvements wherever possible.

In response to your comment, I can tell you that we are setting up a working group to look at improving the patient experience and review our working processes. The group will look at a more discreet way of booking in patients and obtain queue barriers which will give patients more privacy when booking in.

CMFT TV is due to go live in the near future which will help, as you rightly say, to mask the conversations. In the meantime your concerns have been raised directly with the staff involved so that they can take care to be more discreet.

On behalf of the Trust please accept our apologies and assurance that your comments have been taken seriously and acted upon.
