"Lack of Care"

About: Tameside General Hospital

I broke my leg on February 2nd 2015. Went to A&E who handled it great and strapped up my leg with and appointment 2 days later at the Fracture Clinic. Unfortunately I was put under a consultant. My appointment was for 09.40. I waited 4 hours to see that doctor who could not be bothered to apologise! The consultant then had my leg put in plaster, and I was told to come back in 6 weeks. I tried to make an appointment then and there but was told I would get one in the post. I was given an appointment 7 weeks later, not 6, and if I couldn't make it it would be 9 weeks. This was because the consultant was on holiday, then it was easter, and this consultant only worked Fridays. I was not allowed to see another consultant. No other alternatives were offered. I went on time for my appointment at 09:45. I saw no one until 12:00 and the consultant then told me all was ok, I should wear a support boot until the physio said it was ok and I will see the physio next week and I will get an appointment. I waited until Thursday the following week and still had no phsio appointment so I went private to a local physio. The next day I got a phone call from TGH who offered to make an appointment for a physio 2 weeks later. They said that they were not to blame as they were too busy, and they then told me that they would cancel me as a patient and I should carry on privately as it was faster and better. 3 weeks after having the plaster removed and having gone the private physio I was still in serious pain so I went to my GP who examined me, then wrote a letter to the consultant asking them to see me early as things were wrong. After not receiving any news after 3 weeks I contacted my GP who tried to investigate for me what had happened, and was told that no appointments are being made yet as it will be at least 3 months off. I then asked to be refered to another hospital and now have an appointment for 24th June (3 weeks). My advise to anyone who want any medical assitance should avoid Tameside hospital as the bad reputation it has is true - it is an arrogant, uncaring, selfish and inconsiderate hospital.
