After being told by my local hospital that I would not survive my difficult vascular operation, I looked for a second opinion from what is considered to be the best hospital for heart and vascular surgery. The internet had given this group of hospitals the highest rating so I had no second thoughts about asking my GP to arrange a second opinion with them. From the start, the professionalism shone through when my first consutation started with the different ways they may be able to resolve my Superior Cava Vein Syndrome, that had stopped the majority of the flow of blood returning to my heart at the top half of my body, caused by my pacemaker wire narrowing the Cava Vein. Arrangements were made and I came into hospital on the 21st May 15. First into Hammersmith where my pacemaker was removed and then onto St Mary.s Vascular Surgery Unit where I underwent my second operation to repair and stent my Cava Vein. The sevice I received throughout my treatment was second to none from both surgical and nursing staff alike that made my 7 day visit less stressful than it could have been. These dedicated staff have given me my life back for which I will be forever grateful. I would recommend them to anybody.
