"Good emergency care for elderly father"

About: Solihull Hospital / Accident and emergency West Midlands Ambulance Service University NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a relative),

Dad is 94. He collapsed during the night of and suffered a severe bout of gastroenteritis. When I arrived at about 6:30 am he was in a right mess.

I called 111 who arranged for an out of hours gp to visit. He took a look at dad and decided he wanted him assessed and arranged for an ambulance to take him to Solihull acute unit.

The ambulance crew were great, really kind, patient and thorough and we received the same support at Solihull AMU from doctor Ibrahim and the nurses (both calked Rachel). Dad was admitted to a ward that evening and has received good care at Solihull ever since.

So we owe all involved a big thank you. We couldn't have asked for more, and this all happened initially on a bank holiday!

Dear JPS

Thank you for this and your previous post regarding the care and treatment received by your elderly father in AMU at Solihull Hospital.

Your positive feedback is most appreciated and I will ensure that it is forwarded to Nikki Maxsted Ward Manager, and Tristan Hellawell the Matron who will communicate your comments to all of their hardworking team. I will also ensure that Dr Ibrahim is made aware of your kind comments.

Patient and Family feedback is hugely important to our trust and once again thank you for taking the time to provide your comments.

With Kind Regards

Marie Helebert
