It is never easy to be told that you have cancer, however when you are placed under the care of a consultant who is extremely competent but who also listens with understanding and compassion you cannot help but feel in very safe hands..the care that I received from my consultant and the specialist nurse was more than I could have hoped for. I am so pleased that I was under their care. The nurse was so approachable and nothing was too much trouble. The consultant was informative and was willing to take time to explain exactly what was going on, and happy to answer even the most insignificant questions. The operation went very well with excellent results, for which I am so grateful. However, I wish that I could say that I received the same degree of care on Rowan ward, the care was on the other end of the scale. Yes the ward seemed to be understaffed but working in the health service myself, I find it outrageous that nurses can be so lacking in basic patient care. Luckily my stay was a short one and the care I received and needed from the nurse and the consultant and gynaecology/oncology was more than I could have hoped for and I can't recommend them highly enough. I can only say thank you for making one of the toughest times of my life manageable ..you are appreciated.
"Excellent care by an excellent team"
