I attended Accrington Victoria with my son due to a facial injury. He was cared for excellently by staff there but as they required him to be reviewed by a consultant we were transferred to royal Blackburn. Again the staff in paediatrics were really good and efficient. He was treated and given a prescription which unfortunately you can only retrieve from the hospital pharmacy. A small child with a severe head injury did not appreciate having to wait in a hot and crammed waiting for 45 minutes before our order was ready. It was not until we returned home that I noticed the pharmacy had incorrectly labelled his medicines. They had put him on a lower dose than the consultant had prescribed. I was so glad it was only antibiotics they had made the very serious error with or I dread to think what might have happened had it been a more potent drug. Could have been fatal.
