"Receptionist OMG Rude and had me in tears in a bad..."

About: Newham General Hospital

I'm still in shock. I have mental health problems I've lost my medication I called my m/H team who calmed me down & told me they would leave a prescription in tthe A & E Department at Newham General, so I politely asked the receptionist. I explained I also said I'm having problems concentrating due to no medication from nowhere the receptionist started screaming at me to the point of me crying. I asked why and the receptionist totally ignored me. I told the nurses & doctor who where deeply concerned for me they all apologised over & over as I left I asked the receptionist to write their name on paper which they did, then throwing it on the counter. I wish you could watch cctv you will be as shocked as me. I call it the most embarrassing day of my life the whole department watched the whole thing. How sad the receptionist feels the need to mock ppl who already have issues with staying alive. The rest of the staff where first class & dealt with it in a caring manner.

Dear Donna I am sorry to hear of your experience. Could I please urge you to contact me directly to discuss what occurred so I can take steps to identify the staff involved and ensure this does not occur again. I can be contacted via email at paul.smith3@bartshealth.nhs.uk. Kind regards Paul Smith, Emergency Department Matron
