"Absolute joke"

About: Watford General Hospital

The parking tariffs are more than expensive, the waiting times ridiculous and some of the staff are just so unwelcoming. I went in with my partner who was (what I assumed) suffering from appendicitis, we walked into a&e only to be moved to the emergency situations area where he was throwing up, passing out etc but they still didn't see him for over 2 hours, when we did eventually see a nurse they gave him some painkillers and told us we needed to wait to see a doctor which took another hour. When we eventually got into the emergency surgery area the staff there were lovely let me stay with him all night, looked after us and actually cared that my partner doesn't always fully understand what was going on as he's not English and I needed to translate for him. Then we were moved onto a ward, the night staff were great as well they understood the situation, even though a little bit disorganised and forgetful, they let me stay till lights out telling me I could come back in the morning before he went into surgery so he knew what was happening, which started to make me think that this wouldn't be too bad. Unfortunately in the morning the nurses were rude and hostile to me, telling me I could not be there even though he didn't know what was going on. They then chucked me out saying the only thing they could do is contact me when he was out of surgery, this just made things worse as my partner was worried and not knowing what's happening to you when your going to undergo surgery is one of the worst things. They were so disorganised and rude, the nurses obviously never communicate to each other or have the same rules as each other, there needs to be some kind of system in place for patients that don't speak great English and a little bit of care when dealing with partners and the patients themselves.
