I was admitted in A&E at 6.30pm on a Friday eve with a bowel obstruction. An infant nasogastric tube was inserted instead of an adult one. Subsequently got blocked and had hideous experience of vomiting huge amounts of bile. Staff kept telling me that they didn't know how to deal with NG tubes in A&E. As a nurse myself I had to tell them to aspirate it so I didn't keep vomiting. No clamps to attach bike bag to clothes so had to hold it all the time. Dr insisted I was catheterised but urine output only measure when bag was bursting, could have peed in a jug and measured it myself and then been able to have some dignity to wear some pjs and not stuck in a gown. Stuck in A&E for 2 1/2 days and finally admitted to ward at 10.30pm sun night. Not once was my little Bay Area in A&E cleaned from fri to sun, despite bile, blood spills on floor. It was disgusting! The ward staff were great. But, why do the discharge notes state my admission from the sun night so no record of the 2 1/2 days waiting in A&E?!!
