"The staff (doctors and nurses) ..."

About: The Whittington Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

The staff (doctors and nurses) were exceptionally helpful and kind, giving up their own spare time to ensure my wife could get scans done quickly and save her discomfort & stress.

Most importantly there seemed to a genuine and general commitment to identifying where the hospital underperformed and using EBM and identification of international best practice to bring these areas up to a level of excellence. I don't ever expect things to be perfect, but you always hope to see improvements being made.

What could be improved

While some of the care was of the highest quality on occasion it was quite poor; some of the specialist nurses seemed under-prepared. As was highlighted when another hospital took over that particular aspect. Though other areas where the Whittington excelled were also highlighted by this sharing.

It will also be good when the redecoration is finished, and the some of the older wards could do with refitting.

Anything else?

Please maintain the commitment to best practice research and EBM. Opinions, edicts and half-formed ideas will only impede the progress being made.

I would like to apologise that this comment was not responded to at the time. I am glad that some of your experience was positive and I am sorry that other aspects were not as positive.
