"Lumbar puncture"

About: King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill)

I was admitted for a diagnostic lumbar puncture at Kings on 19th May. I was extremely anxious about the procedure, as friends and family who had experienced it, told me that it was an agonisingly painful ordeal. The Doctor who performed my lumbar puncture was excellent - and l couldn't have been in better hands. A lot of care was taken in explaining what was happening and in preparing for the procedure - and l was fully numb before the actual puncture. The procedure was only uncomfortable for a couple of minutes. I put this down to the skill and personal qualities of the Doctor. I would thoroughly recommend Kings Neurology. (very nice bathrooms in the Programmed Investigation Unit).
