My father came out of hospital yesterday after a lengthy stay in the Vascular ward. He is 90 and has cognitive issues. He is a lovely man but in a strange environment was extremely agitated and so frustrated that he became a bit aggressive on occasions. The nursing staff were unfailingly kind to him! I marvelled at their capacity for hard work. Seemingly tireless they laughed and joked not only with the patients but with each other. A very good sign. Their professionalism shone out. The ancillary staff were also marvellous. The care assistants, meals/coffee workers all worked with good humour and thoughtfulness cheering up what is a depressing experience for most. I stayed with my dad for 7 hours a day and I saw how dedicated they all are. Thanks a lot everyone. I hope you get to see this and enjoy the chocolates!!
