"stress echo as an outpatient"

About: William Harvey Hospital

I was treated at 230pm today (19th May) in the cardiac dept by four extremely good professionals. There was a doctor, a trainee nurse, the cardiac nurse and the radiographer. As an ex Sister and nurse lecturer, I have been very disappointed in previous care both at the William Harvey and Kent and Canterbury, but today these four professionals restored my faith and confidence. The care and treatment was exemplary. The three things that struck me were 1. The doctor and nurse explained everything to me in detail, 2. The area was very clean and 3.. The radiographer went to great lengths to maintain my dignity and despite having to do an ECG and an ultrasound all the time, not once were my breasts exposed. Yet a while ago I had to have an ECG done in Clinic C at the WHH and a male cardiac technician did the ecg and never once covered my breasts ..it seemed to go on forever and I felt humiliated. Afterwards I remembering saying to my friends and family how times had changed, we were always taught to maintain the patient's dignity at all costs. Please pass on my positive comments and my sincere thanks to the four staff involved and to their management team. Sue Harrison (was Evans).
