"very disappointed with the service received"

About: Newham General Hospital

My daughter had twins last week and I have to say the treatment that she, and family members, received was disgusting, particularly from night staff. They were rude, obnoxious, unsympathetic, and had bad attitudes. Overall, the day care staff were better, but only just. Night staff and day staff couldn't agree on anything, night staff sternly telling my daughter she wasn't in labour and they were gonna send her home even though she was 2cm dilated. After the birth my daughter had stitches, she waited a whole night, and most of next day for painkillers and an ice pack. I remember this hospital of old and it hasn't changed one bit. Your staff need educating on bedside manners, amongst other things.

It is very upsetting to read of your daughters and your family’s experience at what should be a happy time. We are also sorry to hear that the staff did not treat your daughter with compassion and sympathy and that they had bad attitudes. If you would like us to look into the issue you have raised here further, please contact us to provide us with more detail. You can do this through our Patient, Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on: 020 3594 2040 or by email: pals@bartshealth.nhs.uk We hope that your daughter is settling in well and wish her all the best. Kind regards Barts Health NHS Trust
