"Hysterectomy nearly a year ago hospital is s joke"

About: Weston General Hospital

Having suffered with irregular bleeding for years and years I felt the only way to improve my quality of life was to have a full hysterectomy. I was referred by my gp to a consultant at Weston general hospital. After having my surgery cancelled twice once was the evening before, I finally had my surgery done, I didn't realise this would be the worst year of my life ! I will now list some of the things that happened. Left in blood stained sheets Not able to get out of bed to brush my teeth, no help given. Sent home with a catheta in, very few instructions on how to deal with it, not enough bags given to change it, the bags turned up 5 weeks later ! I was 36 at the time I was totally distraught having to go home with a catheta for over a week. No follow up appointment Severe pain carried on weeks after the op, I was told my consultant wouldn't see me and to go back to my gp which I did. Ended up in a&e where the doctor was so horrible to me I cried and cried, was finally passed over to a doctor who was lovely and got me straight back in to see my consultant. Another two further operations Appointments changed messed up re arranged The list goes on and on Nearly a year on and I'm still in pain still having problems, my body has been totally messed up, I'm disgusted with how I have been treated, the hospital is a complete joke I wish I had never had my hysterectomy, I'm a young woman with a family and the impact it has had on our life has been awful. It now looks like I may need another operation, when will this end, will I ever be out of pain ???

I apologise for the way in which you were treated while receiving care here at Weston Hospital and I would appreciate any information regarding your visit to hospital so I can launch a thorough investigation with the staff involved. If you could contact me through our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) wnt-tr.pals@nhs.net I would be most grateful. Rosie Edgerley – Deputy General Manager – Surgery.
