"My experience of spinal surgery"

About: Colchester General Hospital

Hi on arrival at Coppford Ward we were told that we had been transferred to Great Tey due to staff shortages , immediately thought here we go but how wrong could I be ,right from the start the staff were friendly and thoughtful taking time to explain all that was going to happen , this for me was especially reassuring as at the age of 63 this was my first time ever in hospital having never had a broken bone or stitch all my life I have just been lucky , but because of this I was very nervous ,but because of the teams professional treatment I soon calmed down , another bit of luck was that I was first on the list so I did not have time to worry for to long next thing I knew I was in recovery room job done , I knew straight away something had been done as I had feeling back into my right foot which I had not had for years so that was a good feeling after a while I was taken back to the ward again there the care I was given was faultless with nurses and HCAs coming up every 5 to 10 minutes to check my condition , having not been in hospital before I must add I have nothing to compare to but what I can say is the care and treatment I received was first class and the staff did not stop working from when they started to when they finished their shift , I am at home now making a good recovery and this is down to the skill and dedication of the team that looked after me thank you to all of you i am very great full
