I was referred for an MRI Scan on my head. I'd never had a scan before, and there wasn't really much information on the website / what they had posted to me, so I arrived feeling very anxious. The staff were very kind, they explained what happened and told me that I could squeeze the buzzer if I need to. The scan was 20 minutes long, and there were a few scans ranging from 1 minute to 3 minutes. At the start of every scan the radiographer would tell me the next scan was coming up and how long it would be, then at the end of the scan they'd tell me how well I'm doing etc. I moved during one of the scans and they told me afterwards to remember to keep very still, but they never had a go at me for it. They put on a film for me to watch so I didn't get bored, and they gave me ear plugs and headphones because the machine is super loud. When it's scanning you can't even hear the film! Once the scan had finished, they moved me out of the scanner and I was allowed to go home.
