"This Hospital is extremely bad, would not recomend..."

About: Weston General Hospital

My daughter has been admitted 4 times since Feb 2015, 1st time it was Gallbladder problems. the following wk with the same prob as the 1st they said she didnt have1. 3 & 4th the same as previous wks, after every scan, ultra sound x rays & every other test.camera down throat, etc etc. had to go to a different hospital in Bristol to have a HIDA X-RAY. then to have an appt in out patients yesterday, not with our doctor as they were off ill. we ended up with a doctor from colorectal surgeon, who could not find the results, ended up going 4 appt at 5-15pm came out at 7-35pm, still not knowing the outcome in results, Consultant said they would chase it up today & ring me either way if they found them or not. we got in touch with the Bristol hospital to check where they had been sent to, & they said they had been sent 8 days ago to W-G-H by e-mail also Electronically, So there was know reason that we should not of had them when we attended the day before, The Consultant was true to their word & phoned us today to report that although she had a Gallbladder it had indeed collapsed, we have now got to wait for another appt with an upper GI consultant to see what happens now. taking into account that in Feb this year was admitted with infected Gallbladder & maybe stones, after IV antibiotics for 6 days, to then being admitted a further 3 times & on those times all the doctors she saw said they didnt think she had a gallbladder as all the test she had didnt show it up, On 2 occasions they had room on the Private ward where they sent patients if there was beds free & if the nhs side was filling up, dont know about £400 a night to stay in there i would not pay them anything for the help you got in there. my daughter had to have an enema on the day of her once again discharge, she went to have a shower there, thinking it would be best as its all on 1 level as she was in pain trying to get upstairs at home,Well she was having her shower & had a funny turn, came out the shower pulled the alarm bell, this is in the private wing of the hospital, A nurse came into the room turned off the alarm over her bed, didnt check the bathroom & walked out, my daughter then collapsed on the floor, came around long enough to pull the alarm for the 2nd time, as she was on the floor they could actually see under the door , to which even though my daughter was calling out for help they still did not check the bathroom, she had to crawl out on her hands & knee to her bed to press the alarm bell again to which they came in then & called a junior doctor to check her over, then she had to be treated for concussion, i made a formal complaint to the sister to be told they would put it on record, After being discharged my daughter 4 a wk kept saying her leg etc hurt GP sent her agin for an x-ray & we found out she had a hairline fracture on her Hip & a piece of bone chipped of on her foot, it has taken this Hospital 14 wks & we are still not much further, its bad.

I was extremely saddened to read your comments and I apologise for the way in which your daughter was treated. I understand you have already been in touch with our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) but if there is anything else I can do to help, please don't hesitate to contact me through them. Rosie Edgerley – Deputy General Manager, Surgery.
