Throughout my pregnancy and in the 7 days after my third son's birth on 8th January 2015, I was lucky enough to enjoy the attentions of the maternity staff at Wexham. I can not compliment them too much. At every turn, I found professionalism, attention to detail, quality communication, caring attitudes. The best way is perhaps to list the staff whose names I can remember, and alude to some of the wonderful things they did: at the regular consultant clinincs - the receptionist for their efficiency and understanding, and a member of staff for their beaming smile/laughter and good humour, and of course the other clinical staff for their expertise and manner. A member of staff in the Fetal Assesment Unit who just got on and used their common sense when linking me with the John Radcliffe Hospital, overriding what seemed to be a disconnect. In the two days prior to the birth, the caring staff from ward 21, the person who created the Bubble - a wonderful invention - thank you! An expert, professional midwife - you couldn't ask for more at delivery; and the rest of the paedaetric nurses, helping in that very sensitive first 24hours, and the over-worked midwives of ward 22.... thank you all so much for your care. There is no doubt that you all prove that nursing is a vocation, and we are lucky to have you working in the NHS. I do hope you are valued and treasured a little more in the future - a bit more support from management when there are over-demanding / moaning patients - you need to know someone has your back; a few more rules to make patients realise that these are highly qualified nursing staff members, not chamber maids who respond to the pull of the red tie to get some e.g. water, which they might have got themselves; perhaps a few more perks just to boost morale..whether it is agreeing to some days off or changed working schedules. A huge thank you to you all.
