"no understanding for patients with learning..."

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

After fetching a service user with severe autism in for treatment I am disappointed with the way he was made to spend the night in a physio room because they couldn't provide him with a private room. He was moved onto a open ward where he was keeping the other patients awake after already telling the nurses this was not suitable. This caused disturbance to other patients and unsettled our service user. Due to his constant vocal outbursts it was explained he needed a private room. As our service user was been wheeled back away from the ward the nurse on duty shook their head at me as if it was an inconvenience! Also the nurse who came to do his bp check didn't bother trying because he was loud and "different". Nothing was done the whole night except for one very friendly health care assistant who showed more care and interest that the nurses. In the morning he was moved back onto the open ward where poorly patients were trying to rest. More consideration should be made for patients with severe learning disabilities.

We would be pleased to arrange for these concerns to be investigated if the family would like to contact us directly.
