"Wonderful treatment"

About: West Suffolk Hospital

Whatever is said about the NHS, no one can knock the dedication of the Nursing and ancillary staff at the West Suffolk. My wife has just returned from her second stay at the WSH in 4 weeks, the first was over 2 weeks, the next just one week. From the treatment in F7, G3, G4 and G5 (yes she appears to like to change around a bit!) the care and dedication shown was second to none. No matter how harassed and under pressure the nurses were, they always had time to smile and make her feel comfortable. They treated her as an individual and nothing was too much trouble. The fact that she is disabled (through Stroke) and quite heavy through lack of movement, cannot have been easy for the staff, but they never once looked as if it was a problem. They deserve more in recognition. The only point of order I would make is that it would have been nice if the Doctors spent a little more time to talk to the Spouse\Carer about the patient rather than having to find them and ask the questions. Only in G7 on the first occasion and in G4 on this last one did the Doctor make a point of finding me and keeping me up to date. I never once managed to see the Consultant responsible for her in G3 an each time ended up with a young registrar who really had nothing much to say to answer my questions..
