Our daughter-in-law was admitted on February 1st with a fractured pelvis and had to stay in hospital for 14 weeks, having just just been discharged on May 12th. As she also suffers from long-term mental health problems, she needed psychiatric care as well as orthopaedic nursing. There is only one word to describe the care she received. It was truly exceptional. In spite of frequent periods of distress and disorientation due to her mental state, she was treated with great dignity and sensitivity by all the staff who cared for her. She had a mental health nurse monitoring her 24/7 and great efforts were made by all the staff of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to make her stay comfortable while assisting her to heal as quickly as possible. The cooperation between all the departments involved was smooth and efficient, with no less than 10 health professionals involved in planning her discharge, from mental health nurses in the hospital and in the community to social workers and care workers. The NHS has done a marvellous job and pulled out all the stops to help a vulnerable lady have the best possible chance of recovery and the family wish to thank everyone involved most earnestly. Well done Worthing Hospital!
