"Long wait"

About: Kettering General Hospital

Hospital itself clean and tidy,we were in the paediatric area,good selection of books and toys. A very long wait for a doctor,then consultant then again for results. Not kept in touch with by staff,found myself looking for staff to ask questions and how long it was going to take. All staff very polite and helpful when we did get to see anyone,spent 6 hours there.

I would like to apologise for the long delays you experienced while in our department. We always strive to ensure all our patients have a smooth transit through the department, however, it can be difficult when there is a bed crisis within the hospital and all patients have to wait in our department until the bed is available which can cause significant delays. That said, the staff should have kept you informed of the reasons for your delays and I apologise this was not the case. I will pass your comments onto the team and will also communicate your comments through our daily handover book to remind all staff of the importance of keeping our patients informed.
