"Very Effective Treatment"

About: Homerton University Hospital

I smashed my knee cap in three places early in January 2015 and had to have an operation at the Homerton to insert a wire 'fixation' to get the cracks to close as well as a brace to keep the knee stable for a while. After the cracks closed OK and the brace removed, the hospital then referred me to the physiotherapy dept. The guidance and tests were done very professionally and with great care. Various exercise regimes were recommended over the next three months, and gradually the knee/leg started to work again. I've been signed off since mid-April now, mainly because of the good progress, which I attribute to the same excellent physiotherapist who saw me each time. They made sure that I was doing the exercises properly every time, and changed them as necessary. The physio was never hurried and gave me all the time I needed, and made it clear to me that it would be quite a while before the knee is anything like completely better. I'm still doing the exercises, and I'm noticing small, gradual improvements all the time. A very good department and service which I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else who is daft enough to trip on a paving stone. Mike
