What I liked
I attended A&E due to severe lower back pain/pain radiating on right side and also in my bladder. The Triage nurse I saw, was very kind, caring and helpful to the point where she quickly recognise how much discomfort I was in and so she went out of her way to find a chair to wheel me in to Major Cubicles. The A&E Doctor was very professional and reassured me throughout, explaining everything that was happening and keeping me informed every step of the way throughout my treatment in A&E.I was referred to Urology Team, and transferred to the ward and was seen by Consultant Urologist Mr Elkabir the following morning. Again, I found the Consultant Urologist to be very caring, he went through and explained the results of my tests and discussed my treatment/further tests I required whilst in hospital and was discharged 4 days later. The Urology team of doctors were fantastic, very professional and I appreciate the fact that I was seen by an on-call doctor early hours of the morning and had to wait no longer than 20 minutes prior to the doctor's arrival (I was in severe pain and was fortunate that the on-call doctor prescribed me with strong pain medication to relieve my pain). I have an outpatient appointment in 4 weeks time with the Urology Consultant. I want to say a huge thank you to both the A&E Staff and Urology Team for all their help in supporting me and treating me. My experience at Northwick Park Hospital was certainly a positive one and shall certainly recommend this hospital to relatives/friends.
