"6 months after giving birth I a still traumatised ..."

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

On arrival I was left without any medical staff in a room of other screaming and moaning ladies for 3h, my husband asked for help several times and each time nobody came. I was already pushing and screaming for ages until finally somebody came to help us and I was put in a "delivery room" with a midwife that had already been working for 14h and told me I should hurry up as she wanted to go home. Half way through the delivery I was assigned to a new midwife who wanted me to do everything differently than the previous one and did not resort to any help from doctors even when my little one got stuck in the birth canal for a very long time ( he therefor was not breathing and his head was very deformed...my downstairs also ripped to pieces in both directions) , all this without being offered any medicine apart from paracetamol and gas...the emergency staff managed to get my baby breathing again. During my delivery wich lasted around 11h in the end I was not even given any water and the midwife left the room several times. Trainee students kept walking in all the time asking for equipment. After being stiched back together it got even worse because there was not enough staff. We had to move rooms 10 times and I saw around 34 different midwifes/nurses during my 5 day stay. Of which nobody knew what the previous one had done...so my baby ended up not eating for 3 days and me desperately trying to squeeze milk out by my self without a breast pump or any advice. I had a nervous breakdown in the end and my husband wasn't doing much better. I have never been treated so badly in my life and I never had such a bad experience anywhere. So much for a water birth, breastfeeding and an amazing first week with a new baby. Try to go somewhere else or have a home birth if you can!
