"Treatment of mental health"

About: Worcestershire Royal Hospital

I reluctantly attended A and E after a self induced injury that needed medical intention, which had happened due to my mental health. I was reluctant because I have had poor experiences at different hospitals, as have many others suffering with mental illness. I couldn't of been more wrong - the staff were friendly and treated me with dignity ... From the receptionist, to the triage nurse , to the doctor and then to the nurses who treated my injury. They thoroughly assessed my mental health as well as my physical health - without making me feel interrogated. They were happy I receive community support already and didn't force me to have a dreaded assessment with a psych team. They paid lots of intention to my injury and really went above and beyond trying to reach the best possible outcome for me. I think it's wonderful that an a and e department can treat patients with mental illnesses so well, as for many people I imagine the first place they present is a and e and I think it's important people know they won't be punished for doing so. Thank you WRH

Thank you so much for your kind comments; we're very pleased to hear you were well attended to and that the care you received was of the high standard we aim to deliver. We will share your message with the A&E staff, Regards
