What I liked
When my dad was bought into AAU - the consultant was excellent and very kind to my mother and me. She told us that dad had kidney failure and may not pull through as he was so ill. She was lovely and was so honest with us. Very kind to mum before I got there.
What could be improved
My dad was taken up to James ward on level 9 and yesterday evening a couple of nurses were asked to help to settle my dad down and try and make him more comfortable as he was all scrunched up and we were rather concerned...and one of the nurses made a point of saying that it was past her time to go home and she was now on overtime!!!! What happened to caring nurses!!!! We were made to wait an hour after visiting times for the Dr, who was busy with an emergency, and we said that we would leave and wait till the following day to hear what the dr had to say regarding my father. We were told that he was not critical by the staff nurse and that the emergency was more important. Which I totally understand, but we had been told on Thursday, that we may lose our dad and now it was a different story.
Anything else?
Sunday 16 August- we were told that Dad has now got MSRA. We are very confused and are wondering if he contracted before he was admitted or whilst he has been in. We are also concerned that we are not told a definite diagnosis of dads condition.
