What I liked

Was free to leave the ward and get something to eat.

The midwive's and students in the D.A.U. were compassionate and understanding.

What could be improved

Level of compassion and understanding, i'd been booked in for an induction, I was asked why I'd been booked in 3 days early, I explained that a member of my consultants team had booked me in early because the waiting list was full up on further days, I was asked this twice by different carers, which showed that there was lack of communication between staff. Waiting times, I was asked to arrive at 8am and I wasn't seen by anyone untill 11am having then been told that because the ward was 'too busy' I had to go to the D.A.U to be monitored where a doctor would come and talk to me about why they'd decided to send me home, having got there I found out that the doctor had been called into surgery and wouldn't be avalible for the next 4 hrs, I wasn't prepared to wait around so I went home, being told to return on the friday at the same time.

With something like this it's something you build yourself up for and then being told you have to wait a further 3 days, it's an emotional thing to have to cope with.

I was told to go to the labour ward where I was turned away to a maternity ward, I had to wait in the ' family room ' where patients were having breakfast, I was then briefly shown where the toilets were to then be but in a bay and left for the next 3 hours not knowing when I was going to be seen or what was going to happen, eventually I was told that they were too busy for me and that I'd have to return days later, hoping I don't have to go through the same ordeal again.

My partner was extremly angry and let the nurse's and midwive's know this only for them to turn and walk away from us.

Next time I think I'll be attending either another hospital or going private, but now it's too late.
