"Mothers Herina Operation"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

On 23rd April my 87 year old mother attended the hospital for a simple day cases operation. She had been instructed not eat or drink anything after midnight of the previous day and to arrive at the Theatre admissions Unit for 7.30 am. At approx 8.00 am my mother & I met with the surgical consultant, who told us her operation would be at 11.30 am that morning, this was not the case at all, she finally went down for her operation at 16:00 that day. This was ridiculous amount of time to have to wait, without food or drink. My mother was not treated with respect from the surgical team. We are all aware that sometimes emergencies arise, but an honest answer to a simple question would have be nice, instead of been constantly told it will be an hour. from 12.30- 16:00, longest hour I have ever experienced. Maybe they can't tell the time!!! Since this time I have spoken Patients advice and Liaison service regarding my complaint they are like a chocolate teapot, I am still awaiting a call from someone to tell me what they are doing about my complaint.
