"A&E"

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital

I visited the A&E with a very painful back and neck pain, when the nurse saw me, they just listened to what I have to say and no checks than, I ask the nurse if I can lay down and wait for the next treatment as my pains are worse sitting down, I was told there were no beds available and it should go and sit down they will bring me pain killer for the pains, I waited for more than 2hours just for the pain killers, it was just a terrible experience and a painful night.

Dear Anonymous I am sorry to hear that you had a poor experience at the Emergency Department. I have shared your comment with the Emergency Department Matron who has said she would be very happy to investigate your concerns further. If you would like her to undertake this please give your details to our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALs) on 01202 704886 or pals@rbch.nhs.uk It is one of the nursing visions at Bournemouth to ensure all patients are triaged and analgesia provided in a timely manner. We routinely measure this as part of our quality improvement measures and generally provide our patients with a good standard of nursing care. I am sorry to hear that you feel this did not happen during your visit. The Matron has fed back your experience to the nursing staff in the Emergency Department and reminded them of the need to offer analgesia in a timely manner where required. I hope our response shows that your comments are considered important and we review all our feedback and try to resolve any concerns our patients have in order to improve the service we provide all of our patients. Regards Sue Mellor Head of Patient Engagement
