"Concerns about pharmacy"

About: Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly

(as the patient),

I appreciate the pharmacy next door to my local Surgery is not part of the practice but surely people at the surgery must have some concerns about this pharmacy.

In my experience I have-:

1/ Been handed over the repeat prescription details for another person in error. This gave me his name, address, and the drugs he was taking

2/ My prescription drugs have been sent to my mother's home simply because we share a relatively unusual surname. The pharmacy was not asked to deliver the drugs there and I am sure if I were to ask I would be told the drugs have to be signed for by the person they are intended for. They just assumed we were related and they would reach me. They left them with my mother who is elderly and has slight dementia. This was no accident as they have sent my prescription drugs to her address twice now and even mentioned when I was in the chemist once that there was a (my surname) - I told them to for goodness sake not send my drugs there as we were not related

3/ Quite often I have seen instances when they could not find the paperwork relating to different people - usually when people have returned because only half their prescription had been supplied by the pharmacy and they had to return for the remainder. The pharmacy assistance and pharmacist then get in a flap and fail to resolve anything because the prescription is missing and they have forgotten all about the prescription not being completed.

Surely there is something the surgery could do regards the incompetency of the pharmacy next door. I work north of the city and rely on public transport so unless I use flexi-time to deal with my prescription requests with you and again to collect the prescription and go to the pharmacy to collect (or too often half collect my drugs because they do not hold them) I am stuck. If I leave work at the normal time of 5pm by the time I reach the area you are both closed.

It would be nice to have an efficient pharmacy in the area because going into town to use Boots means instead of clocking up two lots of time to pay back at work I would need to 3 lots.
