What could be improved

The basic nursing care is exceptionally poor. When asked about the condition of my 94 year old father, who was the patient, the only thing they would offer was "he's OK". They had to look in the computer to see how he was. It didn't occur to them to go and see him. No-one seemed to understand that he was unable to care for himself. His food and drink were often left out of his reach. He was not shaved for 5 days and had to be asked to do it. When asked if he had eaten lunch, they couldn't answer despite his bed being only a few metres away; they could have gone and seen him and asked him. If he hadn't eaten, little effort was made to either help him, or find out why he hadn't eaten.

On one day I spoke to three different members of the nursing team and was given three different reports on his condition. Even the computer didn't seem to tell them whether he was on a course of treatment or not.

Anything else?

Please invite the nursing staff on Spruce ward to pay more attention to the patients and less to the computer. The level of interest in the individual patients and the knowledge of their condition is unacceptably low.
