"Lack of facilities"

About: Torbay Hospital

My relative has recently spent time as an inpatient at Torbay Hospital.. I cannot fault the staff at all, their dedication to the patients was second to none. The Hospital was clean and tidy and the food was good considering the amount of meals the staff have to serve. I one disappointment was the lack of shopping now at Torbay. I fully understand that there is about to be building work carried out however the lack of a small shop selling boiled sweets and a selection of daily newspapers is very short sighted. Many patients do not have relatives who can visit on a daily basis and bring in this things. I was told that the canteen served sweets and papers however they only sell the local newpaper which is weekly. It was a pleasure to see the dedicated League of Friends team with their once a week trolley service, its a shame that the Trust have chosen not to find someway of continuing the service in some form for both patients and staff.
